The Nightshade Whispers is a vast wide-ranging collection of poems by the Australian poet Richard James. These collected poems cover about twenty years of Richard James' work as a published poet. Themes encountered in this magical poetic journey of a book are, among others, life and loss, love and loneliness, spirituality and life perceived as a mythical quest, legends and lust. I think we can say that Richard James is a Romantic poet but mainly in the sense that his poems lure the reader in and seduce her to loose herself in the rhyme and melody of the poem's enchantment. The Nightshade Whispers includes poems that werer published in earlier works such as Remembering Dreams and others.
